I have loved everything about pregnancy and the birth process since I had my first child, many years ago! All the anticipation, preparation, and joy that goes into that miracle is awe inspiring to me! I was working as a medical-surgical RN at the time of my first daughter’s birth, which turned out to be quite possibly an unnecessary C-section.
I returned to work on the Maternity unit (pure joy), and soon trained as a Labor and Delivery nurse and have enjoyed supporting women through the most memorable days of their lives ever since! I went on to have two VBAC deliveries without medication or complications. 3 very different births, and over 20 years of experience helping women birth their babies.
I am a DONA certified birth doula and monitrice in North San Diego County.

Birth is a miraculous event and will forever change all that are involved. I believe in the strength of a woman’s body and its ability to birth without intervention. I believe giving birth is a sacred and profound experience and it should be honored and respected however the couple desires to give birth. I have seen firsthand how education plays an important role in a birth; good quality childbirth education classes are always recommended. My job is to help parents gain access to the information they need to make the right decisions for themselves and their birth.
Every birth is unique and as a doula/monitrice I work for the mother and father. The emotional and physical continuous support from a doula gives women more confidence and ability to work with their labor. The clinical caregiver’s, employed by the hospital, primary allegiance is to the institution, and they are professionally responsible for the conduct of the labor and safety of both mother and baby. The monitrice/doula is employed by the woman and is responsible only to her.
My goal is to be non-judgmental about your personal birth choices
I am an advocate for parents and provide unbiased information in order to make the educated decisions on the plans for their birth and prepare them for unexpected outcomes. When parents feel confident about the choices they make, their birth experience is a positive one.
As your monitrice, I have the added skills of being able to check the fetal heart rate of your baby, take vital signs, and do cervical exams, for those who would like to stay home as long as possible before going to the birthplace.
This has been too much “about me” because this day is really all about you!
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.
